Brush, cloth, canned air or a vacuum? Here is what each one does to the dust on your LEGO®.

Most LEGO® fans try three or four ways to clean their sets before they find one that works. Here is what happens to the dust with each one.

1. A brush

Moves the dust

It loosens the dust, then pushes it down between the studs or flicks it onto the next set. The dust is still on your shelf.

2. A cloth or duster

Pushes dust into the gaps

It wipes the flat tops, but it cannot get between the studs. It can also catch on small parts and pull them off.

3. Canned air

Blows dust onto other sets

The dust goes up into the air. A few hours later it lands again, on the same shelf or the one next to it.

4. A home vacuum

Too big and too strong

The nozzle is too wide for small parts, and it can swallow a piece before you notice. Once it is in the bag, it is gone.

Questions

Is it safe for my sets?

Yes. It is made for small bricks. Use the soft brush on fine parts and keep the nozzle just above the studs.

What if it pulls in a small piece?

It stays in the dust cup, behind the filter. Open the cup, tip it out and put the piece back.

How long does the battery last?

Up to 40 minutes per charge. It charges with a USB-C cable, and the light turns from red to green when it is full.

Can I wash the filter?

Yes. The HEPA filter is washable, so you can rinse it, let it dry and use it again.
